Biography
Hedi Fayazi-Petgar is a Tehran-based visual artist whose love of art emerged in childhood as the granddaughter of Jafar Petgar, one of Iran’s foremost contemporary painters whose paintings are among collections held at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art. Drawing inspiration from her lively upbringing among artists, Fayazi-Petgar was encouraged to pursue her talents, a unique artistic voice that landed her first solo exhibition at Shams Gallery in 2010. Her contemporary paintings were described as evoking an atmosphere of play, one that fulfills emotional longing and sparks creativity in the viewer. Since her shining debut as a vibrant and talented painter in Tehran’s dynamic art scene, Fayazi-Petgar has moved art lovers and critics alike with a succession of exhibitions in both Tehran and abroad in Paris. Her latest work challenges the catastrophic distance growing between humanity with its very source and guide, Nature; a severe displacement Fayazi-Petgar observes as leading humanity to a catastrophic existence of decay and nothingness.
